Río Negro energy and mining sectors see major investment expansion
The Río Negro province in Argentina is seeing significant industrial expansion across the energy and mining sectors. In the Vaca Muerta formation, several companies are launching projects with potential investments exceeding US$ 1.6 billion.
Phoenix Global Resources has secured a 35-year non-conventional exploitation concession for 272.22 square kilometers. Following a US$ 123 million exploration phase, the company plans to invest US$ 494.4 million between 2027 and 2031 to drill 40 wells and construct a crude oil treatment plant. Additionally, TanGo Energy has taken over assets previously held by Aconcagua Energía, initiating a US$ 66 million drilling program. Pan American Energy is leading a project in the Loma Guadalosa area alongside TanGo Energy and Continental Resources.
In the mining sector, Patagonia Gold is intensifying exploration at the Calcatreu project in Río Negro. Following previous discoveries of gold, the company has announced a new 10,000-meter drilling campaign aimed at defining the site's mineralized potential and locating new gold-bearing zones.
