Río Negro launches digital payment plans for irrigation debts

The Provincial Water Department (DPA) of Río Negro has introduced a new digital initiative allowing producers to regularize irrigation canon debts through online payment plans. Available until April 2027, the program is designed to facilitate compliance without requiring in-person visits to offices.

Producers can choose from three modalities: a single lump-sum payment featuring a 30% reduction in compensatory interest, a six-month installment plan with an interest rate equivalent to 83.33% of the current tax rate, or a plan of up to 12 monthly installments at 100% of the current tax rate.

To access these benefits, the producer's irrigation system or consortium must be integrated into the provincial Tax Collection Agency (ART) system. The initiative covers several regions, including Valcheta, General Conesa, Margen Norte, Margen Sur, Valle Medio, and Isla Grande de Choele Choel, as well as specific consortia in Valle Inferior (Idevi), Cinco Saltos, Salto Andersen, Río Colorado, and Chimpay.

Applications must be processed online via the Tax Collection Agency's official website using an ARCA fiscal key. Gastón Guzzardi, the DPA's General Irrigation Superintendent, noted that efforts are underway to integrate remaining consortia into the collection system.
