Río Negro law exempts volunteer firefighters from water and sewage fees

A new law in Río Negro has been enacted to exempt volunteer firefighter facilities from paying for potable water and sewage services. The regulation establishes a uniform provincial standard, replacing previous fragmented rules with a single, equitable criterion for all volunteer stations in the province.

Under this new framework, the Province of Río Negro will directly cover the costs for these essential services, ensuring that no volunteer firefighter association is burdened by these bills. Additionally, the law prohibits the interruption of water and sewage supplies to the covered institutions. Javier Iud, General Manager of Aguas Rionegrinas, stated that the measure provides predictability and guarantees access to essential services for these vital community organizations.
