Río Negro: María Emilia Soria launches gubernatorial bid amid internal political friction
Political tensions are rising in Río Negro as María Emilia Soria, the current mayor of General Roca, officially launched her candidacy for governor under the slogan ‘Vamos Río Negro’. In her announcement, Soria emphasized the necessity of political unity and invoked the memory of her father, former governor Carlos ‘Gringo’ Soria, to build a collective movement against the current national government.
Simultaneously, internal friction has emerged within regional Peronism. Former legislator Ana Piccinini publicly criticized National Senator Martín Soria, accusing him of hypocrisy regarding the deteriorating state of National Routes 22 and 151. Piccinini held both Martín Soria and María Emilia Soria responsible for the paralysis of roadworks in the Alto Valle region, citing a legal injunction filed during Martín Soria’s tenure as mayor of General Roca that halted the expansion of Route 22.
