Río Negro officials manage housing projects and political disputes

In Viedma, officials from the municipality and the CGT Río Negro Regional Zona Atlántica met to discuss infrastructure for the José Rucci social housing development. The meeting focused on implementing curb and gutter services and the upcoming bidding process for electrical installations to support 346 families in the South Neighborhood District.

Meanwhile, political tensions have risen in Río Negro between provincial and municipal authorities. Carlos Banacloy, the Minister of Production and Economic Development, criticized General Roca Mayor María Emilia Soria following her comments questioning the province's financial solvency and irrigation infrastructure. Banacloy accused Soria of lacking local knowledge and attempting to ‘demonize the countryside,’ arguing that public infrastructure like electrification is merely a starting point for significant private investment in the agricultural sector.
