Tierra del Fuego reclaims control of three hydrocarbon areas
The province of Tierra del Fuego has formally reclaimed control of three hydrocarbon areas—Angostura, Las Violetas, and Río Cullen—following the expiration of concessions previously held by a consortium including ROCH, SECRA, Crown Point Energía S.A., and DPG.
Energy Minister Gabriela Castillo confirmed that the provincial state will lead the exploitation of these resources during a transition period. ROCH will remain as a temporary operator for approximately six months, acting on behalf of the province while a new bidding process is organized to select a permanent concessionaire.
The transition aims to ensure energy sovereignty and maintain local employment. Under the new arrangement, ROCH will operate without assuming the economic risks or benefits of production. Additionally, the previous consortium is responsible for the remediation of environmental liabilities incurred during their tenure.
