Río Negro uranium project gains international recognition

The Amarillo Grande project, located near Valcheta in Río Negro, Argentina, has been highlighted in the 2026 edition of the Red Book, a major global uranium report. The document, produced by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), identifies the Ivana deposit as one of Argentina’s primary potential uranium production centers.

Developed by Blue Sky Uranium, the project is currently in the exploration and technical evaluation stage. Among the four potential production centers identified in Argentina, the Ivana deposit holds the highest projected nominal capacity.

Governor Alberto Weretilneck stated that the province is preparing to become a protagonist in a new energy stage. The project is expected to drive economic development in the southern region, with preliminary estimates suggesting the potential creation of approximately 190 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs, prioritizing local workers and suppliers.
