Rođa Raičević: 25 years since the death of the prolific songwriter

The 25th anniversary of the death of songwriter and musician Rođa Raičević has brought renewed attention to the mysteries surrounding his passing. Raičević, a talented pianist and singer from Nikšić who studied in Belgrade, died suddenly in his Belgrade apartment at the age of 44.

Unresolved questions persist regarding a suitcase left outside his apartment for years and the disappearance of a notebook containing his song compositions. Lyricist Biljana Vujović has suggested that a close friend and colleague may have taken the notebook to build a successful music career using Raičević's hits, though she has not named the individual.

Colleagues remember Raičević as a highly talented musician often compared to Tome Zdravković, known for hits written for artists such as Nada Topčagić, Lepe Brene, and Buba Miranović. While he was known as a charismatic figure, peers noted he remained a bachelor, with some attributing his lack of marriage to the pressures of fame.
