Netherlands records a spate of traffic accidents and emergency incidents on June 22‑23

Across several Dutch provinces, emergency services responded to a series of accidents on June 22‑23. In Gelderland, a car on the Balgoijseweg crashed into a tree and ended up in a ditch; another vehicle on the A73 overturned into the berm, closing a lane. A separate crash on the Wegtersweg in Hengelo sent a car over a large stone, injuring the driver.

In Overijssel, a scooterrijder was injured in a collision with a car in Hellendoorn, and a police officer was bitten by a dog in Borne, requiring hospital treatment. Other incidents included a cyclist hit by a truck in Haalderen, a motorcyclist hurt in Dorp near Lutjegast, and a bus driver striking a cyclist in Bedum. Emergency responders also rescued an older German woman who fell into water from a ship’s walkway in Doesburg, and saved a man from the IJssel near Terwolde.

Several fires were reported, including a completely burned car in Varsseveld and a pick‑up fire on the Baden Powellstraat in Groesbeek. Police investigations continued into multiple assaults, thefts and suspected vehicle‑theft‑related crimes. All incidents prompted road closures, ambulance transports and, in some cases, the deployment of a trauma helicopter.
