Road accidents reported in Mali and Cameroon
Two separate road accidents occurred in Mali and Cameroon on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
In Mali, a three-vehicle collision involving a heavy truck, a Jeep, and a vehicle marked with UNICEF colors took place on the Ségou-Bamako highway near the village of Sékoro. The accident resulted in the death of a Malian army lieutenant traveling in the Jeep. Two other occupants sustained minor injuries. Preliminary reports suggest the crash may have been caused by speeding and a dangerous overtaking maneuver.
In Cameroon, a Moghamo Express bus traveling from Douala to Bamenda veered off the road at the Dschang cliff. While no fatalities have been reported, several passengers were injured, including a pregnant woman who was evacuated to the Dschang Annex Hospital. The accident occurred on a notorious 15-kilometer stretch of road known for its 52 sharp turns and steep terrain.
