Road and rail disruptions reported in Hungary and Romania
In Hungary, the road between Devecser and Tapolca near Pusztamiske has been closed due to a fire affecting a hectare of mown grass and a forest strip. Firefighters from Ajka and Pápa are working to extinguish the blaze, which has caused acacia trees to burn internally and lean toward the road, posing a danger to traffic. Authorities are currently cutting and removing the trees to clear the route.
In Romania, railway traffic was suspended between Piski and Orăștie after a suspicious object was discovered in a tunnel. The object, consisting of spray paint cans, green graffiti, and thick black cables, was later identified as an “art project” by a 31-year-old man. Despite the explanation, police have launched a criminal investigation for vandalism after the installation caused significant disruption to the 200-line railway service.
