Road closures announced for Strovolos and Tempi Valley

Various infrastructure and maintenance projects will lead to significant traffic adjustments in Cyprus and Greece in mid-October 2026.

In Strovolos, Cyprus, the municipality has announced construction works on Archiepiskopou Kyprianou Street from October 12 to October 18, 2026. The project, part of the “Strovolos Historic Core Redevelopment,” involves excavating and installing a new storm drain connection. While pedestrian access remains safe, vehicle access is restricted on certain sections of Archiepiskopou Kyprianou and surrounding roads near the Holy Church of Agios Georgios.

In Greece, the Tempi Valley will experience a total traffic shutdown for all vehicles on October 12 and 13, 2026, between 07:30 and 19:00. The closure affects the Old National Road Evangelismos – Leptokarya, specifically the section from the Ambelakia junction to the Omoli junction. These measures are necessary for scheduled inspections and maintenance of rock protection measures, including the removal of unstable rocks. Drivers are advised to use the motorway via the Evangelismos junction and the Rapsani semi-junction, utilizing the Tempi tunnels T1 and T2.
