Road closures announced in Essex and various Kenyan counties

Essex County Council has announced an experimental closure of Old Road in Harlow, UK, starting October 19. The closure, which will last for up to 18 months, aims to prevent drivers from using the residential street as a shortcut between Cambridge Road and Gilden Way. While residents and businesses will retain one-way vehicle access, pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use the route in both directions.

In Kenya, private roads and footpaths across 11 estates in Kiambu, Nyeri, and Bomet counties are scheduled to close for 24 hours on October 13, 2026. The closures are intended to prevent claims of adverse possession over the company-owned property. Affected estates include Kamundu, Kakindu, Tinganga, Doondu, Ruiru Mills, Gulmarg, Mweiga, Kipkebe, Magura, Kiptenden, and Keritor.
