Road closures planned for A9 near Leipzig and A4 near Cologne
Major roadworks in Germany will result in significant traffic restrictions on the A9 and A4 motorways.
On the A9 near Leipzig, maintenance work between the Schkeuditzer Kreuz and the Leipzig-West/Merseburg junction will cause lane reductions and ramp closures. Starting Wednesday evening, the Großkugel junction will be closed in both directions, and traffic will be narrowed to a single lane on a 2.3-kilometer stretch. These restrictions will repeat on Thursday night, with work expected to conclude by Friday morning.
In the Cologne area, the A4 motorway will face a full closure in the direction of Olpe at the Heumar interchange. The closure is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM on Monday, November 2, and is expected to last until 5:00 AM on Tuesday, November 3. This closure is necessary for the installation of a new traffic sign bridge as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the Heumar interchange, a major junction connecting the A3, A4, and A59.
