Road construction projects announced in Märkischer Kreis and Gießen
The Märkischer Kreis has announced the start of clearing work for the new construction of Kreisstraße 11n between Leveringhausen and Ihmert, beginning the week of October 26. The project follows the successful completion of land acquisitions from over 20 property owners. Due to local conditions, the road will face temporary full closures in sections during the clearing process. Detailed timing for these closures will be released in due course.
The K11n project has an estimated total volume of approximately 18 million euros, covering construction, culverts, a rainwater retention basin, and compensatory planting. Detailed execution planning is expected by late January 2027, with a European-wide tendering process following in the second quarter of next year. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2028 and is expected to last roughly two years.
In the Gießen district, Kreisstraße 31 near Buseck-Trohe will undergo a 2.4 million euro renovation starting October 15. The 1.7-kilometer stretch will be fully closed until approximately late May 2027. The project includes widening the road to 5.5 meters and installing protective edge plates. To avoid future disruptions, a conduit will be laid to accommodate a planned main water pipe installation next year. Before construction begins, specialists will inspect the area for unexploded ordnance from World War II.
