Road fires block traffic in Rome’s La Storta and near Naples

A dense fire on the La Storta‑Olgiata‑Giustiniana road near Rome caused severe smoke and halted traffic. A driver in a black Smart positioned his car across the lane as a makeshift fire‑break, allowing trapped vehicles to escape. One witness said, “Ci ha permesso di uscire da quell’inferno di fiamme e fumo. Vorrei ringraziare personalmente.”

Separately, a heavy truck caught fire on the Statale 7Bis in the Acerra area of the province of Napoli. The blaze affected part of the load, spreading debris onto the road and forcing a temporary closure for traffic heading toward Avellino. Firefighters, police and road authorities worked to extinguish the fire and clear the lane, while traffic in the opposite direction continued.
