Bulgaria Road Infrastructure Agency launches interactive traffic map

The Road Infrastructure Agency (API) has launched a new interactive online platform to provide real-time information on the Bulgarian national road network. The system, accessible at traffic.api.bg, features an interactive map that displays road repairs, traffic restrictions, accidents, and potential hazards.

Data is updated every 15 minutes and includes information on average vehicle speeds calculated via API cameras, as well as meteorological data such as air and pavement temperatures. The platform allows users to filter information by vehicle category, distinguishing between light and heavy goods vehicles. Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Shishkov, stated that the goal is to provide drivers and transport companies with better predictability to increase road safety and reduce accidents.

Integration with navigation services like Waze is in the final stages. The system is designed to serve as an official information source for existing navigation tools rather than a standalone navigation service. Future upgrades may include data on urban roads and additional information sources.
