Road openings improve transport in Croatia's Karansko Brdo and Serbia's Jarak

A modernised 3‑kilometre road in Karansko Brdo, Croatia, was opened after works costing about €230,000. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Tomislav Katanović, deputy mayor Ivica Švagelj and other local officials, while opposition council members were not invited. The new route, praised for reviving the historic wine‑growing area, was also blessed by parish priest Kristijan Bogdan.

In Serbia, reconstruction of state road II B‑class 316 through the settlement of Jarak near Sremska Mitrovica is set to finish on Thursday, 23 July. Mayor Branislav Nedimović said the delay was due to additional bridge work, adding that drivers will again have a direct route to Šabac, Mačva and western Serbia, shortening journeys that previously required detours via Ruma. The project is part of broader transport upgrades linked to the new Ruma‑Šabac highway.
