Mendoza’s Acceso Este reconstruction begins with new lane‑narrowing works in Maipú

Work on the Acceso Este (Provincial Route 22) in the Maipú district of Mendoza Province started on 6 July. The first stage involves widening the shoulder and narrowing the carriageway between the Medina bridge and the Las Margaritas sector, allowing traffic to continue while a new road base is laid. Authorities say the work will not require a full road closure; instead, dynamic detours and temporary lane shifts will manage flow, with typical peak‑hour delays of about 10 minutes in the morning and up to 25 minutes in the evening.

The project, budgeted at more than US$50 million, spans 12 km and is divided into three sections. The initial segment, from the Arturo González bridge to the Tirasso‑Holmberg junction, is already under construction, with a permanent team of around 30 traffic inspectors monitoring the area. The flexible traffic scheme will be adjusted as work progresses to minimise congestion and ensure safety for motorists and construction crews.
