Road resurfacing projects begin in Florence and Impruneta, Italy

On 1 July the municipality of Florence launched a series of extraordinary maintenance works in Piazza Nicolò Tommaseo, Viale Righi and, from 1 July, Via del Mulino and Via Nuova del Mulino. The project replaces the old stone paving, imposes temporary parking bans and narrows carriageways while keeping traffic flowing. The first phase should be completed by the end of November, with a second phase planned for summer 2027 to finish the remaining area of the square.

In the nearby town of Impruneta, the frazione of Tavarnuzze started a ten‑day resurfacing programme on 6 July covering streets such as Via Giovanni Amendola, Via Turati, Via 2 Giugno, Via Indipendenza and others. The works involve milling, laying a new wearing surface and repainting road markings. Authorities have adjusted market days and bus‑stop locations to lessen disruption, aiming to finish by mid‑July. "L’intervento … rappresenta un’operazione di manutenzione straordinaria finalizzata a migliorare la sicurezza e la qualità della viabilità urbana," the municipal note said.
