Road safety concerns raised in Pamplona

Commuters and residents in Pamplona are highlighting significant road safety risks involving highway junctions and cycling infrastructure.

At the AP-15 highway junction (KM 83) near the exit from Pamplona toward Zaragoza, a dangerous confluence of four lanes has been identified. During morning rush hours, heavy congestion occurs as vehicles attempting to access the Talluntxe/Noain industrial estate meet traffic exiting Pamplona. This creates a situation where stopped vehicles are positioned near lanes where traffic flows at speeds up to 120 km/h, increasing the risk of high-speed collisions during lane changes.

Additionally, cyclists in the city have reported instances of motorists failing to yield at designated bicycle crossings. Specific incidents near Monte Monjardín street, close to the Sagrado Corazón school, have highlighted a lack of respect for cycling priority, leading to near-misses and confrontations between drivers and cyclists.
