Road safety concerns rise in Alghero and Gela

Local authorities and community groups in Alghero and Gela are calling for urgent road safety improvements following concerns over traffic accidents and inadequate infrastructure.

In Alghero, residents have highlighted the dangerous intersection of via De Gasperi and via Berlinguer. The area suffers from poor visibility caused by overgrown vegetation, which endangers motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. Demands have been made for the municipal administration to clear vegetation, improve road signage, and install speed-reduction devices to prevent further serious accidents.

In Gela, the Area 5 Committee, led by Dalila Castania, is demanding the restoration of horizontal and vertical road signage in the Caposoprano, Piano Notaro, and Fondo Iozza areas. The committee noted that the lack of signage poses significant risks, particularly near schools, hospitals, and parking zones. With the school year approaching, the committee is urging the administration to prioritize these safety measures regardless of municipal budget constraints.
