In Australia, Access Canberra is facing scrutiny after an administrative error led to approximately 13,000 fines being issued for seatbelt violations via mobile cameras. It was discovered that the regulatory text authorizing camera use did not explicitly include seatbelt infractions. While the regulation has since been updated and enforcement has resumed, the opposition is calling for investigations into potential reimbursements for the 6,500 motorists who have already paid the fines.
