Road safety initiatives promote helmet use and vehicle inspections

Various regional authorities are promoting road safety measures to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities. In Guatemala, the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) is encouraging drivers to adopt preventive habits before starting their journeys. Recommendations include performing basic vehicle inspections of tires, brakes, fluid levels, and lights, as well as ensuring the use of certified helmets for motorcyclists and seatbelts for all car passengers.

In Oruro, Bolivia, the Departmental Directorate of Transit, Transport, and Road Safety organized a large-scale caravan to advocate for the mandatory use of safety helmets among motorcyclists. Led by police officials, the event involved numerous biker groups and specialized police units to foster a culture of prevention and reduce injury rates during accidents.
