Road safety protests in Uruguay and traffic accidents in Mexico
Residents in Pando, Uruguay, held a protest at the Pando toll plaza to demand improved road safety measures on the Interbalnearia highway. The mobilization was triggered by a recent incident where a speeding vehicle struck a motorcyclist. Local residents reported that crossing the highway to access bus services for commuters traveling to Montevideo is life-threatening due to a lack of pedestrian crossings, speed reducers, and adequate lighting.
In Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, a rear-end collision occurred on Guadalupe Victoria Boulevard between a Volkswagen Jetta and a Renault pickup truck. The accident, which reportedly happened because the Jetta driver failed to maintain a safe distance, caused material damage to both vehicles and significant traffic congestion near the intersection of 19 and Río. No injuries were reported in the incident.
