Roadblocks in Mexico caused by land and agrarian disputes

Multiple road closures have been reported in Mexico due to local land and agrarian disputes.

In Acajete, approximately 100 residents from Acajete and Tepatlaxco de Hidalgo blocked the Amozoc-Nautla federal highway for roughly four hours. The protesters demanded clarity regarding land use near a site planned for a new church, claiming they were not consulted. The blockade was lifted after local officials, including the municipal president of Acajete, met with residents to establish a working group to resolve the conflict.

In Ocoyoacac, communal landholders from San Jerónimo Acazulco blocked the Mexico-Toluca highway, causing significant traffic congestion. The protest stems from a long-standing agrarian dispute dating back to 1946 over 1,000 hectares in the Valle del Silencio area. Protesters accused the community of San Pedro Atlapulco of illegal land seizure and forest devastation. The blockade was cleared after residents from San Pedro Atlapulco withdrew from the area.
