Roads partially reopened in Sondalo and Rende as Italy lifts restrictions for repairs

In the Lombardy town of Sondalo, a recent landslide that blocked the Frontale‑Fumero‑Val di Rezzalo road has led the mayor, Ilaria Peraldini, to issue an ordinance allowing a limited two‑hour reopening each day. From 16:00 to 18:00 only vehicles under 3.5 tonnes may use the route for essential needs such as work, food, medicine, or livestock care. The VASP of Boero remains closed, and authorities warn that the slope is still unstable, requiring further safety work before full restoration.

Meanwhile, in the Calabrian city of Rende, the municipality has scheduled bitumen resurfacing on five streets for 3–4 August. Under an ordinance signed by police commander Alfredo Ferraro, traffic will be restricted from 04:00 to 14:00, with lane narrowing, a 20 km/h speed limit, and a complete ban on parking. Vehicles parked illegally will be removed. Drivers are advised to follow temporary signage and consider alternative routes to minimise disruption.
