Roadwork delays in Orne due to high-voltage line discovery
Roadwork on the RD 21 between Domfront and Briouze in the Orne department has faced delays following the discovery of a high-voltage power line. During the planing of the road surface, workers found the line at a depth of only 36 centimeters, significantly shallower than the expected 80 centimeters.
Enedis intervened urgently to secure the site, and work is underway to bury the line at a greater depth. While the discovery threatened the reopening schedule, the Briouze town hall announced that traffic was restored as of Friday, October 30, 2026.
In related local developments, municipal officials in Briouze have decided to experiment with right-of-way priority on Rue du Docteur-Petit and Rue de La Ferté-Macé to improve safety following recent accidents. Additionally, SNCF works on the RD 924 station parking lot have been completed, allowing bus access to the site for passengers once again.
