Rožaje local government faces collapse amid political conflict

The local government in Rožaje has effectively collapsed following a session of the Municipal Assembly that highlighted a lack of unity and a lost majority. Alen Kalač, a councilor for the European Alliance, stated that the political conflict within the Bosniak Party (BS) has become impossible to hide.

The instability was evidenced when BS councilors voted against proposals from Municipal President Rahman Husović, while Assembly President Almir Avdić supported the opposition. Kalač noted that the loss of a quorum and the withdrawal of agenda items demonstrate a government that has lost control over its own institutions and councilors.

Kalač argued that the city of Rožaje should not be held hostage by the internal power struggles of a single party. He concluded that the current administration is powerless and that the municipality requires a stable and functional government, which he expects to emerge through the European Alliance following the next elections.
