Roarington World launches digital 1000 Miglia platform
Roarington has introduced Roarington World, a new digital platform designed to bring historic automobiles into a virtual environment. Presented at the National Automobile Museum (MAUTO) in Turin, the initiative aims to create a digital ecosystem for classic car culture by connecting collectors, museums, and enthusiasts.
The platform’s debut features a virtual reconstruction of the iconic 1000 Miglia route in Italy. Users can participate in a regularity trial using five digitized vintage cars, where the objective is to match specific target times with precision down to a hundredth of a second. The experience is highly accessible, allowing participation directly through a web browser without requiring specialized software or simulators.
A core technological component of the project is the use of “Digital Twins.” Through high-resolution 3D scanning with an accuracy of 0.1 mm, the platform creates exact digital replicas of specific vehicles, capturing unique details and photographic documentation. The project is a collaboration involving The Classic Car Trust, Pininfarina, and Zagato, with involvement from entities such as Mercedes-Benz and MAUTO.
