Rožňava restores Františka Andrássyová monument

The Secessionist monument of Františka Andrássyová in the center of Rožňava is undergoing professional cleaning and restoration. The white marble monument, a significant national cultural heritage site, has deteriorated due to weather conditions over the last three decades.

Restorer Martin Kukura is performing the work, which involves a combination of mechanical and chemical cleaning using pressurized water and hot steam. The process includes repairing small fragments and pieces that have detached over time.

The project is funded by a 5,000 euro grant from the Košice Self-Governing Region and 2,995 euros from the city of Rožňava, which were raised through a public collection launched in late 2023. The cleaning is expected to be completed by the end of October.
