Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon raises nearly £240,000 for MND charity

The fourth annual Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon took place on Sunday, 10 May, with more than 15,000 participants covering the 26.2‑mile route that starts and finishes at Headingley Rugby Stadium. Organized by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All in partnership with Leeds City Council, the event attracted over 500 supporters, families of those affected by motor neurone disease (MND) and corporate teams such as Toyota GB and Evoke.

Fundraising efforts netted almost £240,000 for the MND Association, supporting patients, families and research into new treatments. Highlights included runner Sean Davies, who lives with the genetic SOD1 form of MND and is taking the investigational drug tofersen, and numerous relay teams honoring loved ones with the disease. The city prepared dedicated cheer‑points, musical entertainment and extensive road‑closure plans to minimise disruption for residents and visitors.

The marathon and a concurrent half‑marathon generated significant community spirit and serve as a high‑profile advert for Leeds while advancing the MND charity’s mission.
