Rob Finnerty apologizes to Kenyans over Nairobi comparison
Newsmax journalist Rob Finnerty has issued an apology to the people of Nairobi, Kenya, following backlash for comments comparing the condition of New York City to the Kenyan capital.
During a discussion regarding immigration and sanctuary cities, Finnerty claimed that the influx of immigrants from Africa, the Middle East, and South America was causing American cities to deteriorate. He stated, “We have no idea where these people are from, they move to blue sanctuary cities and the cities start to look like Nairobi than New York.”
The remarks drew significant criticism from Kenyans on social media, who noted that the immigrants discussed in the segment were not from Kenya and argued that using Nairobi as a comparison for urban decay was unprofessional. Finnerty subsequently apologized, stating, “I want to offer an apology to the people of Nairobi, Kenya. The passion you have your city and homeland is amazing… We all make mistakes. I misspoke, and I am sorry to anyone I have offended.”
