Rob Jetten interrupted by protesters at D66 congress

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten was briefly removed from the stage during his speech at the D66 party congress in Amsterdam after being interrupted by pro-Palestinian demonstrators. The protesters initially shouted from the audience, and security intervened to move Jetten from the podium for precautionary reasons after the noise escalated. Jetten was able to return shortly after to resume his address.

During his speech, Jetten expressed optimism regarding his administration's achievements and criticized forces that seek to undermine democracy through division and online hate. He also addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating he would “never look away when innocent citizens and children become victims of war and brutal violence.”

Following the speech, Jetten discussed recent negotiations with opposition parties. While he noted a willingness to cooperate from both left- and right-wing groups, leaders from right-wing parties such as BBB expressed disappointment, specifically citing a lack of discussion regarding the nitrogen policy package.
