Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten visited New York City during the United Nations General Assembly, focusing on the global state of LGBTIQ+ rights. Jetten visited the historic Stonewall Inn and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in Manhattan, where he met with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to discuss the importance of documenting LGBTQ+ history and supporting youth.

Jetten noted that LGBTIQ+ rights are under pressure worldwide and expressed concern regarding declining acceptance within the Netherlands. This follows a report from the Trimbos Institute and Utrecht University indicating a significant drop in positive attitudes toward homosexuality among Dutch youth between 2021 and 2025. In response, State Secretary Judith Tielen has indicated that the government is considering further research and targeted measures to address the issue.
