Rob Reiner and wife found dead in Los Angeles murder investigation

American filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14, 2025. Authorities identified multiple stab wounds as the cause of death.

Following the discovery, their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The indictment includes allegations of premeditation and the use of a knife. Nick Reiner has denied the charges.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the victims' prominence in Hollywood and the complexities surrounding the investigation, including Nick Reiner’s mental health and addiction struggles. A documentary titled ‘TMZ Investigates: The Reiner Murders: What Really Happened’ (2026) explores the events leading up to the deaths and the subsequent legal proceedings.

In recognition of his cinematic legacy, the VIFFF 2026 film festival has announced a tribute to Reiner, featuring his iconic works such as ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, ‘The Princess Bride’, and ‘When Harry Met Sally’.
