Robberies and vandalism reported in Viña del Mar and San Felipe
Multiple robberies and acts of vandalism have been reported in different Chilean locations. In Viña del Mar, the Inmaculada Concepción Parish in Cerro Castillo was targeted for the fifth time. Unknown individuals entered the temple, stealing liturgical objects, sacred vessels, and ecclesiastical clothing. The total losses, including significant property damage, are estimated to exceed 20 million pesos. Local minister Michael Heavey noted that the perpetrators caused physical damage to religious symbols, such as a bronze crucifix.
In San Felipe, the restobar Los Copihues was broken into during the early hours of Monday. Perpetrators forced entry by breaking a gate and two doors, also tampering with the establishment's security cameras. The thieves stole sausages, beer, and a bicycle. The administrator, Robinson Aros Aguilar, stated that the cost of the physical damage to the property was more significant than the value of the stolen items.
