Robbery at Zonda’s Nuestra Señora del Tránsito Chapel stalls restoration

The historic Nuestra Señora del Tránsito chapel in the town of Zonda suffered a second robbery within two months, when thieves stole rolls of membrane and other construction materials needed to repair the roof. The theft halted work on the restoration project that was scheduled to be completed in time for the patronal celebration on 15 August.

Priest Martín Reta, who disclosed the incident, said the raid “hurts us deeply, hurts our souls” and appealed to neighbors and faithful for information, donations of materials, and assistance. Police have opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items.
