Robert de la Cruz unveils security and culture plans for Trujillo
Robert de la Cruz Rosas, the Podemos candidate for the Provincial Mayoralty of Trujillo, has announced several key proposals focused on security, culture, and urban management.
To combat insecurity, De la Cruz proposes investing 100 million soles through tax-linked works to implement a technological system including facial recognition cameras, servers, and geolocation tools. He also plans to reorganize the city's approximately 800 municipal security officers (serenazgo) into sector-specific units and establish a central command to alert police to suspicious activities and individuals with outstanding warrants.
On the cultural front, he introduced the ‘Parques Culturales’ program, which aims to decentralize arts by utilizing 450 city parks as venues for free activities in music, dance, theater, and painting. This initiative includes hiring 60 art and culture teachers to conduct workshops for children, youth, and adults across various neighborhoods to restore Trujillo's identity as a cultural capital.
Regarding transportation, De la Cruz expressed support for the road corridor project but proposed transferring the functions of the Metropolitan Transport of Trujillo (TMT) to the Transport Management office to improve technical oversight.
