Robert De Niro confirms 1995 Istanbul police raid involvement

Actor Robert De Niro has confirmed long-standing reports regarding his involvement in police activities in Istanbul in 1995. During a recent interview with Cem Başak on the ‘Filme Gitmeden Önce’ channel, De Niro addressed rumors that he accompanied Turkish police during raids on nightclubs.

De Niro clarified that while he did go out with the police, he did not participate in identity checks or any official enforcement actions. He stated, “I went out with them but I didn't do identity checks. I didn't do anything. I was watching, observing.”

The actor explained that his presence was part of research for a film project he was working on at the time alongside a writer. He noted that he was observing the operational methods of the local police for professional purposes.
