Robert De Niro discusses balancing career and fatherhood of seven children

Robert De Niro, the 83-year-old Oscar-winning actor, has spoken candidly about the challenges of balancing a high-profile Hollywood career with raising seven children. In recent interviews, including with People magazine, De Niro admitted to feeling “a little guilty” about not always being present for his children during critical moments.

De Niro, who has children ranging in age from a three-year-old toddler to adults in their 50s, noted that there is no manual or secret to successful parenting. He described the experience as something one must simply “jump in” and manage through trial and error. His children include Drena, Raphael, twins Julian and Airyn, Elliot, Helen, and his youngest, Gia, whom he shares with partner Tiffany Chen.

These reflections come as De Niro promotes his new Netflix thriller, “The Whisper Man,” which premiered on August 28. In the film, he portrays a retired detective navigating a complicated relationship with his estranged son, a theme that mirrors his recent public discussions regarding family dynamics and the complexities of fatherhood.
