Robert De Niro in talks to play Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda

Robert De Niro is in talks to portray the late Hall of Fame baseball manager Tommy Lasorda in a new biopic titled ‘Tommy & Me’. The film, being developed by Skydance Sports, will focus on the legendary Los Angeles Dodgers manager who led the team to two World Series championships and four National League pennants during his tenure from 1976 to 1996.

Reid Carolin, known for his work on ‘Magic Mike’ and ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’, is attached to direct the project. The screenplay is a collaborative effort by Carolin, George Gallo, and Cambron Clark. This role marks De Niro’s first baseball-themed film in three decades.

Lasorda’s career with the Dodgers spanned several decades, beginning as a player before transitioning into scouting, coaching, and eventually management. He remained a prominent figure and ambassador for the organization until his death.
