Robert Downey Jr. prefers Doctor Doom role over Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. has expressed a preference for his upcoming role as Victor von Doom over his previous portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man. During an interview at D23 and on ‘Good Morning America’, the actor explained that playing a villain allows him to experience a perspective he had previously missed, noting the unique feeling of being on the opposite side of the camera from the other heroes.

His comments have sparked debate among fans on social media, with some questioning if the preference is driven by the creative challenge or the reported $100 million contract for the new role. Downey Jr. described the character dynamics in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as “unexpected, surprising and beautiful.”

In addition to his film work, Disney announced expansions to the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park. The updates include the new ‘Avengers: Infinity Defense’ attraction, which will feature the likeness and voice of Tony Stark, set to open in 2028.
