Robert Downey Jr. named honorary officer for Snap Specs AR glasses

Actor Robert Downey Jr. has joined Snap Inc. as the honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer for Specs, the company’s augmented reality (AR) glasses. The partnership involves developing original content, immersive experiences, and exploring hardware collaborations to demonstrate the technology's potential in sectors such as entertainment, education, medicine, engineering, and manufacturing.

Downey Jr.’s first project is a series of original episodes showcasing the glasses in various settings, including professional workspaces, sports like golf, and artistic endeavors. The Specs glasses, which utilize voice commands and hand movements to interact with digital content through see-through lenses, are priced at $2,195. Shipments are scheduled for this autumn in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
