Robert Downey Jr. says Avengers: Doomsday will meet expectations

Robert Downey Jr. told CBR, alongside co‑director Joe Russo, that the upcoming Marvel Studios film *Avengers: Doomsday* is designed to avoid disappointing fans after the success of *Infinity War* and *Endgame*. He said the project “is about how it’s structured and the other characters,” and emphasized that the story’s construction will keep audience interest high.

Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new role as Doctor Doom. The film is slated for release on 18 December and was previewed at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas. Marvel and Disney aim for a more emotionally complex, mature entry that satisfies the franchise’s demanding fan base.
