Marvel Studios prepares for Avengers: Doomsday with new footage and massive pre-sales

Marvel Studios is ramping up anticipation for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. The film features Robert Downey Jr. as the villain Victor von Doom and is expected to bring together characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men. Early ticket pre-sales have already reached approximately $100 million, suggesting a potential $1 billion global opening weekend.

To bridge the gap between the Infinity Saga and the upcoming film, Marvel is re-releasing ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ on September 25, 2026. The re-release will have a runtime of 3 hours and 5 minutes, adding roughly four minutes of new footage designed to connect the two films. While some fans expressed disappointment at the brief duration of the additional material, directors Joe and Anthony Russo described it as a vital narrative bridge.

Marvel has also released an official watchlist to help fans prepare for the new era, including titles like ‘Loki’, ‘Thunderbolts’, and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. Additionally, a new weekly podcast, ‘Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday’, hosted by Iman Vellani and Frank Alvarez, is set to debut on August 27 to recap iconic MCU moments.
