Following a special look presented at D23, fan speculation has intensified regarding the nature of his portrayal. Observers have noted discrepancies in the footage, such as the character displaying blue eyes—contrasting with Downey Jr.’s natural brown eyes—and the appearance of two distinct costumes. One costume is described as elaborate and regal, while a second, more functional suit resembles the attire seen in a ‘Fantastic Four’ teaser. These details have led to theories concerning whether the film might feature multiple versions of Doctor Doom or a specific character transformation.

In recent discussions regarding his return, Downey Jr. addressed the decision to take on this new role, which comes nearly 18 years after his debut in ‘Iron Man’. The film will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
