Robert Eggers’s Werwulf to receive limited 35mm release

Director Robert Eggers’s upcoming historical folk horror film, Werwulf, is scheduled for release on December 25. Filmed on 35mm black-and-white stock to achieve an authentic aesthetic, the movie will receive a limited 35mm theatrical release in 17 locations across the United States.

Set in 1305, the film draws on historical elements of medieval England, including the presence of wolves and the era's folklore. The narrative features a hunter enlisting peasants for a royal wolf hunt, a premise inspired by historical figures like Peter Corbet, a Shropshire baron commissioned by Edward I to hunt wolves in the late 13th century.
