Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Addresses Alpha‑Gal Syndrome Surge as Doctors Call for AMA Action

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. warned of a sharp rise in alpha‑gal syndrome, a tick‑borne allergy that forces sufferers to avoid red meat. He said he recently visited New Hampshire and Martha’s Vineyard, where about half of adults are affected, and announced federal funding for studies of preventive drugs and cures, as well as a tick‑control program targeting deer populations.

At the same time, doctors with the American Medical Association are urging the AMA to adopt a more aggressive stance toward Kennedy’s health policies. New AMA president‑elect Sandra Fryhofer has pledged to hold the administration accountable for issues such as measles outbreaks, Medicaid spending, physician reimbursement and broader public‑health decisions.
