Robert F. Kennedy Jr. advances health data and fitness initiatives
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is advancing several initiatives under his ‘Make America Healthy Again’ agenda. At the MAHA Open Data Summit, Kennedy called for a unified national health-data architecture. He proposed that Americans should have greater control over their medical records via mobile devices, while simultaneously allowing researchers to analyze large datasets to investigate the environmental, dietary, and lifestyle causes of the chronic disease epidemic.
In an effort to combat childhood obesity, the administration is investing $10 million to revive the Presidential Fitness Test in schools. The initiative includes $7 million in prizes for organizations that effectively implement the assessments and $3 million in vouchers for fitness equipment. The testing regimen includes measures such as a one-mile run, pushups, and planks.
Concurrently, health officials in Pennsylvania have confirmed a fifth death linked to a measles outbreak. The outbreak has affected 943 patients across 29 counties. Nationally, the CDC reported 3,642 measles cases across 47 states as of late September.
